Congressman Horsford Co-Sponsors Resolution Condemning President Trump’s Assault On 1.2 Million Nevadans With Pre-Existing Conditions
April 2, 2019
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) joined Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32) and House Democrats to introduce a resolution condemning the Trump Administration’s continued efforts to eliminate the Affordable Care Act (ACA) - including Nevada’s Medicaid expansion, and protections for 1.2 million Nevadans battling pre-existing conditions.
“Nevada was the first state under a Republican Governor to expand Medicaid and implement insurance exchanges. These actions have extended health coverage to thousands, and helped cut our state’s uninsured rate in half,” said Congressman Horsford. “I’m working every day to strengthen the Affordable Care Act, lower prescription drug costs, and improve the medical profession by expanding graduate medical education and providing loan forgiveness for nurses and other critical health care professionals.”
Lowering health care and prescription drug costs is Congressman Horsford’s top legislative priority.
- On the very first day of the new Congress, Congressman Horsford voted to allow the House of Representatives to intervene in Texas v. United States to defend the ACA – to defend Nevada’s Medicaid expansion, and protections for Nevadans with pre-existing conditions.
- In February, Congressman Horsford co-sponsored legislation to ban ‘junk’ health plans that allow insurance companies to discriminate against Nevadans with pre-existing conditions, and refuse to provide essential health services.
