Congressman Horsford Introduces Dream & Promise Act To Protect Nevada Dreamers, TPS Holders, and DED Recipients
WASHINGTON, D.C - On Tuesday, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) joined Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40), Nydia Velázquez (NY-07) and Yvette Clarke (NY-09) as an original co-sponsor of H.R. 6, the Dream And Promise Act Of 2019.
H.R. 6 provides a path to citizenship for Dreamers and protects individuals with Temporary Protective Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED).
"This important legislation will create a path to citizenship for our dreamers and protect TPS holders, and DED recipients from being forced to leave the country they love," said Congressman Horsford. "There is nothing temporary about their lives here. And there's no excuse for making families like theirs vulnerable to separation."
"I will continue to push Congress to pass comprehensive immigration solutions that keep families together, protect Nevada's immigrant communities, and strengthen our national security."
During his previous term in the House, Congressman Horsford was an original co-sponsor of the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act - bipartisan, comprehensive reform bill that would have provided a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants and strengthened border security. That measure was passed by a bipartisan Senate majority but was blocked in the House by then-speaker John Boehner.
Last week, Congressman Horsford met with TPS holders and DED recipients at his North Las Vegas office to discuss his ongoing efforts to fix our broken immigration system.
