Statement from Congressman Horsford on Kabul Airport Attack

August 26, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (D-NV-04) issued the following statement after an attack at Hamid Karzai International Airport killed U.S. servicemembers and individuals trying to evacuate from Afghanistan and injured others.

"My prayers are with the families and teammates of the heroic servicemembers killed in today's attack, and I mourn the senseless loss of civilian life. I am deeply grateful for the servicemembers who are working valiantly to evacuate American citizens and our Afghan allies under these terrible circumstances.

"My office is continuing to collaborate with the State Department and troops on the ground to evacuate American citizens and the Afghans who fought by our side. I will do everything in my power to get them to safety."
