Horsford Supports Largest Housing Package in Decades to Support Homeowners not Hedge Funds
WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) issued the following statement on the passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act.
"For years, one of the biggest challenges in Las Vegas has been the deepening housing crisis. Nevada families looking to put down roots in their own communities have been pushed out and out-bid by Wall Street investors and corporate landlords. I have listened to their concerns, worked on solutions, and today those solutions became reality with the passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act.
“This is the largest housing package in decades, and I am proud to see the work started in my HOME Act reach the finish line. In Las Vegas, where investor-owned homes rank second in the nation, talk has not been enough, and action has been long overdue. I have always been willing to work with anyone, regardless of party, to make housing more affordable and accessible for Nevada families, and I am proud that the work we started with the HOME Act helped make this historic package possible.
“For too many Americans, owning a home has felt out of reach. Today, we are expanding access to homeownership, we are cutting red tape, and we are putting homeowners over hedge funds. "
