Committees and Caucuses
Congressman Horsford is a member of the following committees:
The Ways and Means Committee is the oldest and most powerful committee of the U.S. Congress and derives its jurisdiction directly from Article I of the Constitution which mandates that all revenue raising bills originate in the House of Representatives. Congressman Horsford co-leads the House Ways and Means Committee Racial Equity Initiative, which work to address the role of racism and other forms of discrimination in perpetuating health and economic inequalities in the United States.
The House Budget Committee is the chief legislative panel conducting oversight of the federal budget process. The committee’s chief responsibility is to draft an annual Congressional Budget Resolution, which directs Congress on how the federal government invests taxpayer dollars and expands economic opportunities for Americans.
