Congressional App Challenge (CAC)

Each year, the U.S. House of Representatives hosts the Congressional App Challenge. This is an annual coding competition designed to encourage middle school and high school student participation in computer science and coding, regardless of experience. It is an opportunity for students to compete against other peers within their district by creating an original application in a variety of programming languages and on different platforms.

The CAC is now open to all students in Nevada’s 4th Congressional District. Students participating must submit their app source code by 12:00 PM Eastern Time on November 1st. Included should be a YouTube/Vimeo video explaining the app itself and what they learned through this competition.

The winning app will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol and shown on House.gov(link is external). The winners will be invited to #HouseOfCode, and more prizes may be announced at a later date.

Congressional App Challenge Rules:

  1. The Challenge is open to all students who reside in the 4th District OR attend a middle or high school in the 4th District at the time of the competition.
  2. Students can compete individually or in teams of up to four. No more than four students are allowed to form a team. If competing as a team, at least half of the teammates must be eligible to compete in the district in which they are participating in.
  3. All programming languages and/or platforms are welcome. There are no limits on application theme or topic.
