Horsford Accomplishments in 2023

As your federal representative, I know that many residents of the 4^th Congressional District might not be aware that my office’s primary role is to serve the needs of our residents. Regarding federal agencies, including basic things like your postal service at home or your business, your passport, your citizenship application, your Medicare or Veteran benefits, and other federal programs, my office is here to help you with any processes or concerns with those agencies.

 

2023 was a great year in terms of getting results for my constituents. The staff in my North Las Vegas office and I worked on nearly 1200 individual cases, contacting agencies like the Internal Revenue Service, Housing and Urban Development, Labor, and Education. In fact, we liaised with 25 federal agencies and offices on behalf of Nevadans in my district. Overall, we conducted 76 mobile office hours throughout the community and attended 1,313 events, meetings, and tours to connect with community members. All this work and effort resulted in resolutions like expedited passports, citizenship and permanent residency documents being granted, improved mail service, and over $3 million being recovered for constituents.

 

Passports can be complicated, and we understand that not every resident has one ready. Sometimes, you might start planning a trip for a birthday, wedding, or other special occasion and then realize you need a passport. That happened with Kelvin and his wife, Bobbie, as they planned their trip to Jamaica. And when they needed expedited passports, my office was able to secure an urgent appointment for them, and they could make their trip, passports in hand.

 

We were also able to help Thomas and his trucking business with a matter involving the Small Business Administration. With our help, we restored Thomas's access to his account and ensured he could make his payments on his SBA loan. And thereby, he received a contract that included a direct payment to his existing loan. Overall, we were able to help him with access to his account and to continue to do business, allowing his small business to continue to grow and thrive.

 

These are just a sample of the stories of constituents my office was able to help. Countless others involve restoration of benefits, access to pensions, back pay for disability pay or social security benefits, issues with tax returns and payments, visas, permanent resident cards, and even pay and benefits issues for federal employees who reside in Nevada.
