Nevada's Horsford named to key House Dems leadership role
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — U.S. Rep. Steven Horsford, D-Nevada, has been named to a key leadership role in the House Democratic Caucus.
Horsford has been named a chief deputy whip for the Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
"I am honored to serve as a Chief Deputy Whip and to work alongside my colleagues to deliver results for my constituents in Nevada and the American people," Horsford said in a statement. "Our focus remains clear—creating good-paying jobs, lowering costs and making life more affordable for families, and ensuring every American has access to the opportunities to thrive."
Both party conferences elect whips, who serve as assistant leaders and round up party members for votes. They can occasionally stand in for majority or minority leaders as well.
The Democratic caucus has multiple members who serve as chief deputy whips.
