Congressman Horsford Applauds Senate Passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Plan

August 10, 2021

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NEV. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (D-NV-04) issued the following statement in support of the bipartisan infrastructure plan, which passed the Senate with billions in funding for Nevada's economy, infrastructure, schools, and the environment.

"As Nevada recovers from the pandemic, we have a historic opportunity to invest in job creation and a stronger future for working families. The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will create good union jobs, modernize our infrastructure, and protect our state from the increasing threat of climate change. I'm glad to see the Senate pass this bill with broad support, and I look forward to advocating for the needs of Nevada's Fourth District as it moves to the House for consideration."

Estimated funding for Nevada in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act includes:

  • $2.5 billion over five years for federal-aid highway apportioned programs
  • $462 million over five years to improve public transit
  • $225 million over five years for bridge replacement and repairs
  • $100 million to help provide broadband coverage across the state
  • $38 million over five years to support the expansion of an electric vehicle (EV) charging network
  • $16.9 million in funding for the Lake Tahoe Restoration Act
