Congressman Horsford Secures $12.9 Million in Funding for Community Services in Nevada’s Fourth District
NORTH LAS VEGAS, NEV. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (D-NV-04) announced that his office has secured $12.9 million in funding for essential community services in Nevada's Fourth District through the Department of the Interior's Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program, which compensates state and local governments for commercial activities on public lands.
"The Payments in Lieu of Taxes program provides essential funding to support firefighting and police operations, build schools, roads, and other essential infrastructure, and strengthen resources for our rural communities," said Congressman Horsford. "As Nevada's local governments work to recover from the financial hardship of the pandemic, this year's PILT payments are much-needed. I'm proud that my office was able to secure these funds, and I look forward to working with President Biden and Secretary Haaland to ensure that the PILT program is fully funded."
Nevada will receive $28.5 million in Payments in Lieu of Taxes funding in 2021. The breakdown of PILT funding in Nevada's Fourth District is as follows:
- Clark County: $3,781,881
- Esmeralda County: $168,704
- Lincoln County: $966,232
- Lyon County: $2,358,595
