Congressman Horsford Takes Part In Bill Enrollment Ceremony To Protect Southern Nevada’s Primary Source Of Drinking Water
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) joined House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at the official bill enrollment ceremony marking the passage of the bipartisan Colorado River Drought Contingency Plan.
The Colorado River Drought Contingency Plan protects Southern Nevada’s primary source of drinking water through voluntary water reductions and reservoir management strategies.
“In Nevada, water is gold. It drives every aspect of economic life and viability,” said Congressman Horsford. “90 percent of all water used in the metropolitan Las Vegas area comes from the Colorado River. And more than 2 million Nevadans rely on it. I’m proud to have co-sponsored this important bipartisan legislation to protect the Nevada families who rely on this important body of water.”
