Congressman Steven Horsford and La Pulga de Las Vegas Hold Spanish-Language Community Conversation on Vaccine Distribution and Public Health Efforts

March 12, 2021

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford and La Pulga de Las Vegas held a Spanish-language Facebook Live conversation on the COVID-19 vaccine, the American Rescue Plan, and public health efforts to fight the pandemic in Southern Nevada.

They were joined by Las Vegas Councilwoman Olivia Diaz, David Pérez, the Public Affairs & Community Engagement Manager for Immunize Nevada, Dr. Fermin Leguen, Chief Medical Officer and Director of Clinical Services for the Southern Nevada Health District, and Dr. Joaquim S. Tavares from United Clinical Care.

"As we work to crush the coronavirus, it is critical for every community to have accurate and up-to-date information about the COVID-19 vaccine. I thank La Pulga de Las Vegas, Councilwoman Olivia Diaz, David Pérez of Immunize Nevada, Dr. Leguen of the Southern Nevada Health District, and Dr. Tavares for joining us for this important community conversation," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "There is a clear need for progress on equitable vaccine distribution and I'm glad we have strong partners on the ground and in the White House to move forward.

"The American Rescue Plan that President Biden signed into law will set up community vaccination centers in marginalized areas to expand access to the vaccine, and invest billions in equitable vaccine distribution, as well as testing and treatment. I look forward to continuing to work closely with our state and local health officials and community partners to increase vaccination rates, stop the spread of this virus and get our economy back on track."
