Congressman Steven Horsford Announces Funding from CARES Act for Nevada’s Health Care Providers

April 10, 2020

Washington, D.C. -- Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) announced that 2,581 health care providers and hospitals in Nevada will receive $241,471,841 in funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act which the Congressman voted to pass in March.

"This distribution of funding is a step in the right direction, and I am working with the Administration to get as much information as possible to ensure that Nevadans can benefit from the provider funds that I voted to approve in the CARES Act," Congressman Horsford said. "To combat this global health pandemic, we must ensure that all of our communities have the resources they need and that our hospitals, doctor's offices, and health systems on the frontlines of this pandemic are as well-equipped as possible."

This funding is part of the first tranche of $30 billion authorized by the CARES Act, which included $100 billion to support hospitals and health care providers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To expedite providers getting money as quickly as possible, $30 billion is being distributed immediately proportionate to providers' share of Medicare fee-for- service reimbursements in 2019. These initial payments will begin being delivered today, April 10, with $26 billion of the $30 billion expected to be delivered to providers by the end of the day.

As a condition of receiving these funds, health providers must agree not to seek collection of out-of-pocket payments from COVID-19 patients that are greater than what the patient would have otherwise been required to pay if the care had been provided by an in-network provider.
