Congressman Steven Horsford Announces Nearly $500,000 Grant for Nevada Railway

August 20, 2020

Washington, D.C. -- Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) announced that $487,160 in a Save America's Treasure grant was awarded to the Nevada Northern Railway Foundation, Inc. to repair the Nevada Northern Railway Locomotive #40, the official state symbol of Nevada.

"This is great news for Nevada and our rural community. This robust investment to repair one of our oldest railways will increase economic development, bolster small businesses, and increase tourism in White Pine County," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "I will continue to find ways to expand opportunities for our local community and ensure Nevada's federal tax dollars work for us."

The Save America's Treasures grants fund 42 preservation and conservation projects in 26 states. The National Park Service (NPS) partners with the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), awards these matching grants to support the preservation of nationally significant historic properties and collections.
