Congressman Steven Horsford Applauds Nearly $4 Billion in Estimated State and Local Funding for Nevada Communities in President Biden’s American Rescue Plan

February 10, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Tuesday night, the House Oversight and Reform Committee released allocation estimates showing that Nevada would receive nearly $4 billion in direct COVID-19 relief state and local funds from President Biden's American Rescue Plan. In response, Congressman Steven Horsford released the following statement:

"While there is still a long road in front of us to recover and rebuild from COVID-19, I'm pleased by today's estimates on federal COVID-19 aid for Nevada from the passage of the American Rescue Plan," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "The American Rescue Plan would provide nearly $4 billion in direct COVID-19 relief for Nevada — in addition to expanded unemployment insurance, direct cash payments to families, and assistance for housing and food for those most in need.

"This week, as I vote to advance the American Rescue Plan through the Ways and Means Committee and onto the House floor, I will be thinking of the workers, families, and small businesses in Nevada's Fourth District who have struggled during this crisis. They deserve our help — and under President Biden, Congress is ready to deliver."

Estimates from the House Oversight and Reform Committee show that the American Rescue Plan proposed by President Biden would deliver an estimated:

  • $2.969 billion in funding for the State of Nevada
  • $443 million for Clark County
  • $121 million for Las Vegas
  • $44 million for North Las Vegas
  • Support for other cities and counties — urban and rural — throughout Nevada.
