WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) released the following statement after the House Committee on Rules voted to reject an appropriations amendment that would have provided funds for a nuclear waste repository on Yucca Mountain.
"I want to thank Democrats on the House Rules Committee for standing with Nevadans and voting against yet another attempt to force the nation's nuclear waste into Nevada," said Congressman Horsford. "As the House continues consideration of appropriations bills, I will continue fighting to keep Nevadans safe and stop any effort to make Nevada the nation's nuclear dumping ground."
The amendment, which was made toH.R. 2740, a package of four bills reported by the Appropriations Committee for Fiscal Year 2020, failed in the House Committee on Rules by a 7-4 vote.
