Congressman Steven Horsford Demands Oversight of IRS Stimulus Checks Distribution
Washington, D.C. -- Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) joined 110 members of Congress in urging the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to address issues related to the distribution of Economic Impact Payments (EIP).
"This pandemic has stressed many families as they cope with significant public health and economic consequences. When Congress voted to create EIPs, we intended to provide Americans with immediate financial relief," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "Many of my constituents have reached out to express their frustration and seek answers about their payment. They've made it clear that they can no longer afford to wait. I urge Commissioner Rettig and the IRS to work to ensure individuals get access to their payment."
The letter outlines specific issues caseworkers are hearing nationwide including delayed payments, issues around deceased spouses, "Get My Payment" tool issues, and direct deposit issues. Additionally, the letter urges the agency to expand its capacity for casework assistance to EIP claims, and to resolve the issues raised in the letter in a fair and timely manner. Nevadans who are having challenges in getting their stimulus check (EIP) can reach Congressman Horsford's office at (702) 963-9360 or visit Horsford.house.gov.
