April 2, 2021

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford joins the Congressional community to mourn the death of Officer William F. Evans, who was killed while protecting the Capitol Complex. Officer Evans had served honorably with the U.S. Capitol Police for 18 years and was a member of the Capitol Division's First Responder's Unit.

"My heart is heavy today as we mourn the death of Officer William F. Evans, the second U.S. Capitol Police officer to be killed in the line of duty this year. As we continue to learn more about today's attack, I am praying for the recovery of the second U.S. Capitol Police officer who was injured," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "Every day, hard-working Americans go to work on Capitol Hill in service to their country. We must make sure that the Capitol Complex is safe and secure for everyone — Capitol Police, Guardsmen, members of Congress, and staffers alike."
