Congressman Steven Horsford Participates in Hearing on U.S. Space Operations

May 24, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford joined his colleagues on the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) Strategic Forces Subcommittee for a hearing on the national security space activities of the Department of Defense. This was Congressman Horsford's first official hearing as the newest member of the subcommittee.

"The United States' space operations provide critical support to military, civil, economic, agricultural, and disaster response situations," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "Today's hearing was an opportunity to advocate for and learn more about the needs of programs like the Advanced Battle Management System and the Joint All-Domain Command and Control, both of which play a critical role at Nellis Air Force Base. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Strategic Forces Subcommittee to ensure that the United States can continue to utilize space operations to advance and protect our interests across the globe."

Earlier this year, Congressman Horsford visited Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada's Fourth District and participated in a briefing with Acting Secretary of the Air Force John P. Roth. The briefing was on our nation's defense and training capabilities, including the Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) and Red Flag exercises that take place at Nellis Air Force Base.
