Congressman Steven Horsford Votes to Strengthen America’s Labor Unions and Protect American Workers with the PRO Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford voted to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, comprehensive labor legislation to protect the right to organize, improve working conditions for millions of American workers, and address the power imbalance between Wall Street and working people.
"After spending a decade helping to train Nevadans for good-paying union jobs in the hospitality and service industries, I know the power of unions to uplift working people and strengthen our middle class," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "With the passage of the PRO Act, House Democrats have advanced major legislative progress to restore fairness in our economy, protect the right to organize, and strengthen workplace protections for millions of unionized and non-unionized workers. President Biden is ready to sign the PRO Act into law, and I hope the Senate will move quickly to bring this important bill to his desk."
Earlier today, Congressman Horsford delivered floor remarks on the PRO Act, which can be viewed here. The video clip can be downloaded here. Congressman Horsford also presided over floor debate on the PRO Act and announced final passage of the legislation.
Congressman Horsford is a founding member and co-chair of the Labor Caucus. Prior to serving in the House of Representatives, Congressman Horsford led the Culinary Training Academy of Las Vegas, the largest job-training center in Nevada and one of the largest in the country. Under his leadership, the Culinary Training Academy prepared thousands of Nevadans for good union jobs in the hospitality and service industries.
