Congressman Steven Horsford Votes to Pass Bipartisan Pregnant Workers Fairness Act
WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford voted for the bipartisan passage of H.R. 1065, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. The legislation would ban discrimination against reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers.
"Too often, pregnant workers have been forced to choose between a healthy pregnancy and continuing to work—with pregnant women of color disproportionately impacted by inequitable workplaces," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act establishes clear workplace regulations and protections for pregnant workers and ensures their access to reasonable accommodations. I'm proud to support this crucial legislation to guarantee the health, safety, and financial security of pregnant workers throughout Nevada."
In the 116th Congress, Congressman Horsford voted for the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which passed the House 329-73 with broad bipartisan support.
In a recent poll of voters across the county, 89 percent said they supported the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act — including 81 percent of Republicans, 86 percent of independents, and 96 percent of Democrats.
The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act is supported by a broad coalition of organizations, including the ACLU, AFL-CIO, American Federation of Teachers, Child Welfare League of America, Human Rights Watch, The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, March of Dimes, MomsRising, NAACP, National Consumers League, National Education Association, National Partnership for Women & Families, National Retail Federation, National Women's Law Center, NOW, Oxfam America, UAW, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce among others.
