Horsford Announces USDA Investment in Yomba Shoshone Tribe Water Infrastructure

March 13, 2024

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) announced a Rural Development investment from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to the Yomba Shoshone Tribe. The $772,000 funding will support the replacement of their outdated water tank to reduce the risk of water loss and ensure reliable access to clean water.

"This investment represents is a great step towards securing the health and well-being of the Yomba Shoshone Tribe," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "Clean water is a fundamental right, and this USDA funding will ensure that the tribe will have access to safe and reliable water. It's about building a stronger, healthier community for children and future generations."

This grant reflects a broader effort to ensure that tribal communities across the United States have access to the modern infrastructure necessary for sustainable growth and prosperity. It will address the current water tank's deficiencies, including its lack of proper disinfection equipment and the imminent risk of water loss. The new water tank will not only remedy these issues but also incorporate additional improvements such as new water lines, fire hydrants, and other enhancements to boost the system's efficiency and resilience.
