Horsford Applauds Biden-Harris Administration's Historic Investment in Registered Apprenticeships
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) applauded the recent federal investments in Registered Apprenticeships by the Biden-Harris Administration. These investments are the largest federal commitment to modernize, diversify, and expand Registered Apprenticeships in US History. The $244 million in funds aims strengthen workforce pipelines across growing industries in states across the country, including Nevada, to ensure equitable access to high-quality, good-paying jobs. He released the following statement:
“I’m thrilled to see the Biden-Harris Administration making record investments in Registered Apprenticeships, which will have big impacts on Nevada’s workforce. These investments will provide our residents with opportunities to gain new skills and secure good-paying jobs in growing sectors like clean energy and advanced manufacturing. By expanding access to apprenticeship programs, we are building a stronger, more inclusive economy that benefits all Nevadans. I look forward to working with local stakeholders to maximize the benefits of these investments and continue to drive economic growth in our state.”
These investments build on Congressman Horsford’s work to promote apprenticeships and workforce development. He previously led the Culinary Training Academy, Nevada’s largest job training program, preparing thousands forgood-paying union jobs. In Congress, he helped introduce the 21st Century SKILLS Act, which aims to modernize and expand apprenticeship programs in high-demand industries and remove barriers like childcare and transportation, and co-sponsored the National Apprenticeship Act, which would create nearly one million new apprenticeship opportunities.
