Horsford Applauds Decision to Protect Domestic Violence Survivors and the Right to Live Free from Gun Violence

NORTH LAS VEGAS – Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) expressed support for the recent decision to uphold the federal law prohibiting domestic abusers from owning firearms. He released the following statement: 

“Today’s ruling will help save the lives of countless domestic violence survivors. By keeping guns out of the hands of abusers, we are making our communities safer and protecting the vulnerable. This decision reaffirms our commitment to gun laws that safeguard our communities.

“As a long-time advocate for violence prevention, I know that this ruling will save lives and help create safer environments for those at risk. It underscores our nation's dedication to sensible gun regulations that prioritize public safety and the right to live free from gun violence by prohibiting domestic partners under a protective order from using a gun or threatening gun violence. 

“We must continue to build on this progress by supporting comprehensive gun violence prevention legislation and strengthening protective measures for domestic violence survivors."
