Lawmaker Listens to Community Leaders about Grocery Prices & Clean Energy Challenges

NORTH LAS VEGAS – Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) on Tuesday hosted two listening sessions – one addressing food insecurity at Mario’s Westside Market, and one focused on clean energy solutions at Nevada Partners, Inc.

Both conversations took place in Las Vegas’ historic Westside. They allowed residents to voice concerns to the Congressman so he can better advocate for their needs in Washington.

“Fighting for my constituents starts by listening to my constituents,” Rep. Horsford said. “The conversations I held went far beyond headlines of higher prices under the Trump Administration – this was about hearing the specific needs of my community, and seeking ways to help keep lights on, and pantries stocked. Those solutions only come when local leaders and residents share their challenges with elected leaders, and I want to thank everyone who placed their trust in me to do right with the personal stories they shared.”

Congressman Horsford previously spent a decade running the largest job training program in Nevada.

He now uses his position on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee to advocate for federal policies that will help working Nevadans make ends meet.

Earlier this month, Rep. Horsford introduced two bills to bring costs down for working families:

The Lower Drug Costs for Families Act (H.R. 2254), which would penalize pharmaceutical companies for unjustified price hikes, and the Capping Prescription Costs Act (H.R. 2553), which would cap out-of-pocket costs at $2,000 for individuals and $4,000 for families.
