Horsford, Nevada Delegation & Labor Leaders Usher in New Economic Engine for Southern Nevada
NORTH LAS VEGAS – Today, Congressman Steven Horsford joined U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and other local leaders to break ground on the Brightline West high-speed rail connection between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The 218-mile rail project will cut travel times between Las Vegas and Los Angeles in half and remove 3 million cars and 400,000 tons of carbon emissions annually.
“I’m excited that high-speed rail will finally become a reality, connecting our communities to Southern California,” said Congressman Horsford. “We’ll create good-paying union jobs and boost our travel and tourism economy. We need projects like this as we work to combat the climate crisis and connect our communities, which is why I worked to secure funding through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.”
Congressman Horsford was joined by Governor Joe Lombardo, the Nevada congressional delegation, Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar (CA-33), Rep. Norma Torres (CA-35), representatives from the Biden Administration, Vince Saavedra of the Southern Nevada Building Trades, and Brightline Chairman Wes Edens.
