Horsford on Trump’s Illegal Funding Freeze: Chaotic, Cruel & Calculated
NORTH LAS VEGAS – Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) today responded after President Donald Trump ordered an illegal freeze of all federal grant and loan payments, and a district judge prevented implementation.
“President Trump is trying to unilaterally steal investments that were promised to Nevadan families to benefit his billionaire backers,” Rep. Horsford said. “We cannot let that happen, and I’m glad a district judge stopped him in his tracks today. As she said, this proposal brought a specter of irreparable harm.
“Just 72 hours ago, Trump claimed to stand with hard working Nevadans here in Las Vegas,” Rep. Horsford continued. “Instead, he’s pushing Project 2025 policies that show us exactly what we’re in for. More chaos, more confusion, and more calculated attacks on the essential services that Nevadans depend on – energy assistance programs that help us heat our homes in the winter and cool them in the summer; tests protecting children from lead in our schools; utility services to remote parts of our state; investments in wildfire preparedness; HeadStart to help every student reach their full potential, and so much more would be lost.
“Hardworking Nevadans deserve better and I will fight for my community and constituents every step of the way.”
