Horsford Statement on Nomination of CQ Brown to Lead Joint Chiefs of Staff

May 25, 2023

WASHINGTON - Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) today issued the following statement after President Biden nominated General Charles Q. Brown to serve as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff:

"I have been fortunate to work with General Brown over the years in my capacity as a member of the House Armed Services Committee, and I am proud of his ties to Nellis AFB in my district, both as a graduate, instructor, and ultimately commandant at the U.S. Air Force Fighter Weapons School. His commitment to our national security and our servicemembers is admirable. As Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, I have admired General Brown's advocacy for our servicemembers of color, making improvements that have only helped our airmen reach their full potential. I commend President Biden and his Administration, and General Brown, for this historic nomination and look forward to working with him in this new capacity as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.”

The Joint Chiefs of Staff consist of the Chairman, the Vice Chairman, the Chief of Staff of the Army, the Chief of Naval Operations, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, the Chief of the National Guard Bureau and the Chief of Space Operations. They advise the President of the United States, the Secretary of Defense, the Homeland Security Council and the National Security Council on military matters.
