Horsford Statement on Shooting of Palestinian Students in Vermont

NORTH LAS VEGAS - Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) issued the following statement in response to the shooting of three Palestinian college students in Burlington, Vermont:

“Today, I stand with the Arab community as another tragic event unfolds in Vermont. My thoughts are with Palestinian students; Hisham Awartani, Tahseen Ali, Kenan Abdulhamid and their families as they navigate this unacceptable violence.

"I condemn the drastic rise in Islamophobia that has occurred in recent weeks. Every American regardless of their faith or background has the right to live in safety.

"Congress must lead the way in condemning hate, bigotry and discrimination in any form, including fighting against hate-based crimes, Islamophobia and antisemitism. We must denounce these crimes and protect innocent Americans wherever they live.”
