Horsford Visits Pahrump, Meets with Community Leaders, Tours Organizations and Small Businesses

October 5, 2023

PAHRUMP - Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) visited the town of Pahrump in Nye County, located in his district. During the day, he met with local community leaders, visited non-profit organizations, checked in on local funding projects he secured, and visited small businesses in the area.

"The town of Pahrump is an important and historic part of my district. It was great to visit with my constituents in the region and hear directly from them what they need and how I can provide assistance and resources the town needs. There are many hard-working community leaders, organizations and small businesses in Pahrump, and I will continue to deliver for the residents of Nye County and all Nevadans," said Congressman Horsford.

Throughout the day, Congressman Horsford met with Nevada Assemblyman Gregory Haffen II. He then toured the Nye Communities Coalition, which works on many great projects including brownfields, workforce development, and community health worker programs. Following that he toured the Nevada Outreach Training Organization (NOTO), which provides important community resources like healthcare services, senior services, youth programs, and domestic violence hotline and survivor resources.

He then visited El Jefe Restaurant and recognized their owners as outstanding entrepreneurs for Hispanic Heritage Month.

Congressman Horsford met with Nye County Commissioners to present them a check for $1,000,000 for the construction of the Nye County Civic Center. Working with community members and key stakeholders for more than 10 years, Nye County has developed a plan to build a multi-purpose facility that will be operated by the County for the benefit of the community.

Community stakeholders and leaders gathered for a meeting with the Congressman, where he was able to hear from several non-profit, business and community leaders. He then had the opportunity to tour the Grove Cannabis Dispensary, and heard from the owners about what federal policies continue to be an obstacle for their work. He then visited the Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club, and met with local activists working on voting rights and voter registration efforts.
