Horsford Votes for Government Funding Bill that Invests in American Families and Workers
Includes More Than $21 Million for Projects in Nevada's 4th Congressional District
WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) voted for a government funding bill that prevents a shutdown and makes historic investments in American families and workers. The legislation will also strengthen Democracy at home and abroad and fund the implementation of the PACT Act we passed earlier this year. It also delivers more than $21M for 14 local projects in Nevada’s 4thCongressional District. Overall, this funding bill will create good-paying American jobs, grow opportunity for the middle class and small businesses, and provide a lifeline for working families. Taken together, the funding for Nevada’s 4th District and the funding increases for critical government programs will continue to reverse decades of disinvestment in our communities.
“I was proud to vote for this monumental investment in Nevada families and working people. From funding for our military bases and veterans’ health programs, to ensuring children have access to nutritious meals all year and investments in housing programs that helps renters and homeowners alike, and many other investments in our domestic programs, we have delivered on critical programs that in our families, workers and communities,” said Congressman Horsford. “And investments in defense programs and the security, economic and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine will continue our investment in their fight for democracy.”
The legislation includes transformative legislation, like the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, requiring reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers while on the job. The package also includes reforms to the Electoral Count Act of 1887 that will thwart future attempts to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power between our nation’s Presidents.
