Horsford Votes To Keep Our Communities Safe With Assault Weapons Ban
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) voted in favor of H.R. 1808, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022. He issued the following statement after the bill passed the House by a vote of 217-213:
“In our country, guns are the number one killer of our precious children – more than cars or cancer. More children have died from guns then on-duty police officers or active duty military,” said Congressman Horsford. “In Las Vegas, we saw the largest mass shooting on October 1, 2017, with 61 deaths, at the hands of an assailant with multiple assault weapons. And the horrific shooting in Uvalde, Texas could have been prevented if a bill like this would have been law. We must protect our communities, we must save our children, and we must stem the violence that has become far too common for so many Americans. This Assault Weapons Ban, along with legislation like my Break the Cycle of Violence Act, can help reduce crime, save lives, and break the cycle of violence.”
