Nation’s Largest Association Of Family Physicians Endorses Horsford’s Drug Prices Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) released the following statement following the American Academy of Family Physicians' (AAFP) endorsement of his legislation to lower prescription drug prices.
"Prescription drug costs keep going up and it's taking a heavy toll on Nevada families. The SPIKE Act takes a crucial first step towards ending price gouging by requiring pharmaceutical companies to justify their large price hikes," said Congressman Horsford. "I'm glad to see that the SPIKE Act has earned the support of the nation's largest association of family physicians. I look forward to continuing to work with patients, doctors, and nurses to end our nation's prescription drug cost crisis."
In their endorsement, the AAFP stated they "are hopeful that if the SPIKE Act becomes law, it will reduce the cost of prescription drugs for family physician patients." AAFP's full endorsement can be found here.
Introduced earlier this month by Congressmen Horsford and Tom Reed (NY-23), the SPIKE Act advanced through the House Ways & Means Committee on a unanimous, bipartisan vote of 40-0 last week.
