On Labor Day, Congressman Horsford Highlights How the Build Back Better Agenda Delivers for Working People

September 6, 2021

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NEV. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (D-NV-04) joined Nevada elected officials, labor leaders, and representatives from For Our Future Nevada for a Labor Day event to highlight the benefits of the Build Back Better Agenda for Nevada's working people.

During the event, Congressman Horsford called attention to the transformative impact of the Build Back Better Budget, which will invest in working families with universal paid leave and lower child care costs, add four additional years of public education for every American, lower the cost of housing and senior care, add dental, vision, and hearing benefits to Medicare, and extend the expanded Child Tax Credit to deliver a historic tax cut to working families.

"Nevada's strength has always been rooted in working people. As we celebrate Labor Day, the best way to honor workers is to fight for the fairer, stronger economy they deserve," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "The Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal and the Build Back Better Budget present a generational opportunity to create millions of good-paying union jobs, lower the cost of living, and create a stronger future for families, seniors, and small businesses. Now is the time to get these plans through Congress and deliver For The People."

"Safer workplaces, better wages, and stronger worker protections are just some of the many hard-fought victories of the Labor movement thanks to unions, advocates, and our workers," said Gariety Pruitt, Director of For Our Future Nevada. "We have come so far but we still have a long way to go to ensure that worker's rights are protected and strengthened. The Biden administration is committed to delivering for American workers with the Build Back Better agenda and sign the PRO Act into law which will protect the right to organize and collectively bargain for better wages, working conditions, and benefits. On this Labor Day, we are calling for the passage of the PRO Act and the Build Back Better agenda for workers here in Nevada and across America."
