Statement from Congressman Steven Horsford on President Biden’s Day One Executive Actions

January 20, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford released the following statement on the executive actions signed by President Biden on his first day in office.

"On the campaign trail, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris pledged to rebuild our nation. Today on their first day in the White House they have already begun to deliver on that promise," said Congressman Steven Horsford.

"Today's executive actions will deliver critical aid to Nevada families by extending student debt relief and continuing moratoriums on evictions and foreclosures during the pandemic. President Biden's 100 Day Masking Challenge is a demonstration of leading by example. This challenge calls on all Americans to recognize that wearing a mask is not a political statement, but an effort to crush this virus and get our economy back on track.

"These executive actions send a strong message about the Biden-Harris administration's commitment to our nation, including the most marginalized communities. By ending Trump's unconstitutional Muslim ban and reinstituting protections for DREAMers, President Biden is turning the page to a new chapter of American history. Over the next 100 days, I look forward to working closely with the Biden-Harris administration to make further progress for hard-working families in Nevada's Fourth District and across the country."

As chair of the Congressional Black Caucus' First 100 Days Transition Task Force, Congressman Steven Horsford serves as a key liaison between Congress and the Biden-Harris transition team and incoming administration, working for policies that uplift communities of color and advocating for diverse representation at the highest levels of our government.
