Statement On House Vote To Terminate President Trump’s National Emergency Declaration

February 26, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) released the below statement following the U.S. House Of Representatives' vote to terminate President Trump's National Emergency Declaration.

"Today's vote protects the founders' constitutional intent by ensuring separation between the executive and legislative branch. There is no emergency on our southern Border. Earlier this month, Congress reviewed the situation and the President's proposal and passed overwhelmingly bipartisan, bicameral legislation which granted additional resources to homeland security and border protection."

"Congress will continue to do our job to protect our homeland security. I will also work to protect necessary funding for Nevada law enforcement and Nellis and Creech Air Force Bases."

Congressman Horsford is an original co-sponsor of Congressman Joaquin Castro's (TX-20) privileged resolution to terminate this emergency declaration using the termination mechanism within the National Emergencies Act (NEA).
