Congressman Horsford Speaks at the Former FCC Chairs' Symposium

July 25, 2023

In our democracy, the ability to communicate and connect is vital, and for the black community and people of color, this communication must be trustworthy and local. Unfortunately, we have seen our community targeted with misinformation and disinformation, particularly after the recent Supreme Court ruling on affirmative action. This ruling was a concerning moment for our community, and we've witnessed both positive and negative actions in response. In my district, which covers both rural and urban areas throughout Nevada's 50,000 square miles, I am keen on securing funding and resources like the Affordable Connectivity Program. Local voices are our best defense against disinformation and division perpetuated by national voices, and they are crucial in building trust and empowering black voters.
