Rep. Horsford Speaks in Support of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act on House Floor

From my break in the cycle of violence, I have witnessed the devastating impact of gun-related incidents on our society. It is a harsh reality that gun violence remains the leading cause of premature death for Black men and the second leading cause for Latino men and Black women. Today, as I stand here, I am casting my vote not just for myself, but for my father, for the 58 victims who tragically lost their lives during the horrific Las Vegas shooting, and for individuals like Sean Jerriann Coleman, a constituent and a youth leader in Las Vegas, who have become victims and survivors of gun violence. It is time for action. I urge this body to rise above partisan lines and pass the bipartisan Safer Communities Act because we cannot afford to let this cycle of violence continue any longer.
