I want to send a clear message: the actions of the Tennessee legislature, led by the GOP, in expelling two young black men for speaking on behalf of their constituents is a direct assault on our democracy and smacks of overt racism. This should concern every American, as it undermines freedom of speech and threatens our democracy.
