Congressman Steven Horsford Secures Additional COVID-19 Vaccine Allocations for Health Centers in Nevada’s Fourth District

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV — This week, Congressman Steven Horsford announced that his office has secured an invitation for Firstmed Health and Wellness Center and Hope Christian Health Center to join the Health Center COVID-19 Vaccine Program. This program was established to directly allocate COVID-19 vaccines to Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)-supported health centers to ensure that Nevada's underserved communities and those disproportionately affected by COVID-19 are equitably vaccinated.

"I'm deeply proud to share that Firstmed Health and Wellness Center and Hope Christian Health Center have been invited to join the Health Center COVID-19 vaccine program. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, both of these health centers have provided invaluable frontline care to Nevada's vulnerable populations, and demonstrated their commitment to crushing COVID-19," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "As we work to fulfill President Biden's goal to be closer to normal by July 4, local participation in the COVID-19 Vaccine Program will speed up vaccine distribution and ensure that all communities have equitable access to the tools we need to crush this virus."

Nationwide, 700 health centers will be invited to participate in the next phase of the Health Center COVID-19 Vaccine Program. Qualifying health centers include those that:

• Serve high proportions of low income and minority patients
• Provide services to rural/frontier populations
• Operate Tribal/Urban Indian Health Programs, and/or
• Utilize mobile vans to deliver services
