Horsford Announces $3.2M for Critical Clean Energy Infrastructure

January 8, 2025

Funds Will Help Meet 21st Century Transportation Needs in Disadvantaged Communities

NORTH LAS VEGAS – Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) today announced $3.2 million in Department of Transportation grant funding to install 185 electric vehicle charging ports at seven sites across Las Vegas. Initially established by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program facilitates zero- and low-emission transportation infrastructure across the country.

“The funding I’m announcing today is yet another example of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law delivering for Nevadans and helping to ensure a clean energy future for all Americans,” Rep. Horsford said. “This seminal investment has created over 283,000 new jobs in our state alone, drawing nearly $12.5 billion in private sector investment to boost our local economy.”

Importantly, the charging infrastructure will be installed primarily in disadvantaged communities at city-owned or controlled, publicly accessible properties like parks, community centers, and multi-family housing. The project includes a citywide outreach and educational campaign about electric vehicle access, charging locations, and available resources.

“Electric vehicle charging stations are critical infrastructure to every community – they should never be locked behind a zip code,” Rep. Horsford continued. “Today’s investment is about ensuring access to a clean energy source for Nevadans of all walks of life.”

Electric vehicle chargers funded by this grant will be built at the following location:

  • Howard Lieburn Senior Center – 3 chargers
  • Freedom Park - 5 chargers
  • East Las Vegas Community Center - 5 chargers
  • Promenade Garage - 60 chargers
  • City Parkway Garage - 70 chargers
  • City Center Garage - 10 chargers
  • 500 S. Main Garage – 32 chargers
