District Representative
Position/Title: District Representative
Reports To: District Director
Starting Salary & time commitment: $50,000.00. Full-time, requires some evenings and weekends
Proposed Starting Date: Immediate
Congressman Steven Horsford's District Office is seeking to hire a full-time District Representative. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our high-energy team.
Basic Functions:
Under the supervision of the District Director, the District Representative acts as the representative for the Member. District Representative responsibilities include strengthening relationships with key stakeholders, as well as attending engagements on behalf of the Member. Caseworker responsibilities include helping constituents resolve problems with federal agencies through written and verbal communication.
Duties:
- Ensure outreach efforts align with the Member's strategic vision and goals
- Coordinate closely with staff to ensure district priorities are reflective in legislative priorities
- Build and maintain relationships with constituents and key community leaders
- Inform the District Director and Member on up-and-coming issues in the district
- Perform constituent services and casework as assigned
- Maintain up-to-date files on all cases and categories of information
- Continually manage active cases and serve as a liaison with constituents to ensure that cases are handled in a timely and appropriate manner
Requirements:
- Political knowledge and comfortable navigating complicated situations
- Strong written, verbal, analytical, and organization skills; impeccable customer service manners; public speaking skills
- Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities
- Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional nights, weekends and some holidays.
Position Qualifications/Education:
Bachelor's degree or related job experience is required. A demonstrated interest in public service and familiarity with District 4 community is preferred.

Congressional Internship - District Office (North Las Vegas, Nevada)

Congressman Steven Horsford's District Office in Las Vegas, Nevada is seeking motivated and dedicated individuals for our Congressional Internship program. This is an exciting opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the legislative process while contributing to the vital work of serving the people of Nevada's 4th Congressional District.
Role Responsibilities
- Office Operations:
- Answer phones, manage mail and data entry.
- Assist to manage front desk area
- Constituent Services:
- Respond to constituent inquiries and concerns, employing effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Casework/Outreach Initiatives:
- Conduct in-depth research on legislative issues, policy matters, and current events.
- Collaborate with community stakeholders and community organizations to identify resources for constituents.
- Develop and implement outreach initiatives to enhance community engagement.
- Assist in organizing events and meetings to promote a stronger connection between the office and constituents.
- Provide timely and relevant information to staff members to support case work and outreach efforts.
- Special Projects
- Contribute to special projects and assignments, gaining exposure to various tasks within a congressional office.

Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Interest in politics, public policy, and the legislative process.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of legislative databases (e.g., Congress.gov) is a plus.
Compensation:
This is a paid internship and compensation will be provided based on an hourly rate. Details of the compensation structure will be discussed during the interview process.
