Horsford Secures Nearly $7M for Local Nevada Water and Law Enforcement Investments in House Appropriations Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) today announced nearly $7 million in federal funding for projects across Nevada’s 4th Congressional District that he secured in the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act, 2026. The House of Representatives passed this bipartisan legislation on Thursday, January 8th; it now moves to the Senate for final passage.
Rep. Horsford released the following statement:
“From wastewater treatment and increased sewage capacity, to cutting edge law enforcement training and crisis response equipment, the funds I included in this week’s Appropriations bill support projects that ensure Southern Nevada remains an incredible place to call home,” Rep. Horsford said. “Our communities deserve infrastructure and investments to thrive, and I’m proud to help deliver them. I look forward to final passage in the Senate, and to the impact these funds will have on the ground in Nevada’s Fourth Congressional District.”
A breakdown of funds secured is included below.
Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies
| Project Recipient | Project Description | Amount |
| City of North Las Vegas | The Losee Wash Diversion Project will construct a sanitary sewer relief system to address toxic sewer overflows caused by overcapacity, converging sewer main lines along Gowan Road. Without this project, continued overflows would threaten public health, degrade residents’ quality of life, and constrain future development in north and northwest North Las Vegas. | $1,092,000 |
| Clark County Water Reclamation District | The Wastewater Treatment Facility Project will replace aging sewer infrastructure in Indian Springs, Nevada, where the existing system does not meet Clark County Water Reclamation District standards. The upgrade will modernize the system and ensure a more reliable, compliant wastewater service for the community. | $1,092,000 |
| Las Vegas Valley Water District | The Kyle Canyon Water District, operated by the Las Vegas Valley Water District, provides water service to Mount Charleston residents, including the Rainbow community. Funding is requested to replace and reroute the primary discharge pipeline to ensure reliable water distribution. | $1,092,000 |
| Moapa Valley Water District | The Water Transmission Line Project will replace 4.3 miles of a critical 24-inch potable water transmission line that has a high leak and break rate. The replacement will reduce system failures and prevent contamination in the water distribution network. | $1,092,000 |
| Virgin Valley Water District | The Main Transmission Line Replacement Project will replace roughly 26,000 feet of failed or undersized transmission lines, including pipes, valves, and other components, along Riverside and White Rock Roads. The lines deliver water from four wells, three arsenic treatment plants, and four storage tanks to residents in Bunkerville and historic Mesquite, Nevada. | $1,092,000 |
Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies
| Project Recipient | Project Description | Amount |
| Nevada State Police | Funding for Virtual Reality Law Enforcement Training aims to enhance officer training in response to national attention on use-of-force incidents by implementing a virtual reality (VR) system for de-escalation and critical incident training. VR will allow officers to experience multiple customizable scenarios, receive interactive feedback, track performance metrics, and standardize training across the agency to improve preparedness while minimizing the use of force. This funding was secured alongside Rep. Lee (NV-03). | $360,000 |
| Lyon County | Funding for Mobile Crisis Response Co-Responder Vehicle will support the purchasing and retrofitting of a police vehicle to safely transport individuals experiencing a mental health crisis alongside a licensed clinician. The vehicle will also feature Mobile Outreach Safety Team graphics to promote community acceptance and reduce anxiety associated with a traditional police presence. | $90,000 |
| Nye County | Funding for the NV Security Enhancements Project aims to enhance security at county facilities and public parks through access control, perimeter measures, and surveillance cameras. These improvements align with National Institute of Justice guidance on municipal security planning to reduce risks and protect the community. | $1,031,000 |
