Statement On Introduction Of Resolution To Terminate President Trump’s Emergency Declaration

February 22, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C - Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) released the following statement regarding the introduction of a privileged resolution to terminate President Trump's emergency declaration.

"The President's declaration undermines the training, readiness and quality of life of our military and their families by threatening to take away nearly $97 million from military construction projects at the Fourth Congressional District's Nellis and Creech Air Force Bases and North Las Vegas National Guard Readiness Center," said Congressman Horsford. "I'll keep working to protect Nevada's military personnel and their families from the President's unconstitutional action."

Congressman Horsford is an original co-sponsor of Congressman Joaquin Castro's (TX-20) privileged resolution to terminate this emergency declaration using the termination mechanism within the National Emergencies Act (NEA). The House will move swiftly to pass this bill, reporting it out of committee within 15 calendar days and considering it on the Floor within 3 calendar days following that, pursuant to the NEA. After House passage, the resolution will be referred to the Senate and then sent to the President's desk
