VIDEO: Congressman Horsford Speaks on House Floor in Support of 2021 Budget Resolution
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Steven Horsford delivered impassioned remarks on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives in support of House Concurrent Resolution 11, the Concurrent Resolution on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2021. The bill, which has now passed the House, is a key tool to advance COVID-19 relief for working families and small businesses in Nevada's 4th District.

Congressman Horsford also released the following statement on H. Con. Res. 11:
"The COVID-19 pandemic has killed thousands of Nevadans and devastated our economy. Today, I joined my colleagues to pass this budget resolution and provide another path forward for Congress to deliver urgently-needed relief for families and small businesses." said Congressman Steven Horsford.
"Three years ago, Republicans passed huge tax cuts for the wealthy and added nearly $2 trillion to the national debt. Today, some of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle raised concerns about the fiscal impact of H. Con. Res. 11 and the American Rescue Plan. With millions hungry and out-of-work, now is not the time.
"I hope that in the coming days, Republicans will work with Democrats to pass a robust, bipartisan relief package to crush the coronavirus and get the economy back on track. The American people don't care what legislative tool is used to pass this relief – they just want it done."
The budget resolution passed today is an essential first step to deliver the relief laid out in President Biden's American Rescue Plan:
- Launch a national vaccination program with community vaccination sites across the country
- Increase COVID-19 testing and tracing and address shortages of PPE
- Deliver immediate relief to working families with direct payments, housing and nutrition assistance, expanded access to childcare and affordable health care, and extended federal unemployment aid
- Support for small businesses, especially those owned by entrepreneurs from historically marginalized backgrounds
- Protections for first responders, frontline health care workers, teachers, transit workers, and other essential workers
- Safely resume in-person learning, with investments to protect teachers and families from COVID-19
