WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (D-NV-04) issued the following statement after an attack at Hamid Karzai International Airport killed U.S. servicemembers and individuals trying to evacuate from Afghanistan and injured others.

"My prayers are with the families and teammates of the heroic servicemembers killed in today's attack, and I mourn the senseless loss of civilian life. I am deeply grateful for the servicemembers who are working valiantly to evacuate American citizens and our Afghan allies under these terrible circumstances.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (D-NV-04) voted to pass H.R. 4, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and protect the freedom to vote for all Americans. Congressman Horsford is an original co-sponsor of H.R. 4, which passed in the House of Representatives by a vote of 219 to 212.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (D-NV-04) joined Congresswoman Terri Sewell (D-AL-07) and more than 190 members of the House to introduce H.R. 4, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

H.R. 4 would restore the power of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (VRA) and expand federal oversight to prevent voter discrimination and suppression. Further, the bill would allow the Department of Justice or other plaintiffs to challenge potentially discriminatory voting rules before they are implemented and proactively protect the freedom to vote.
