Congressman Steven Horsford Issues Statement on the Signing of the Abraham Accords

September 15, 2020

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) released the below statement following the signing of agreements between Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain:

"I welcome the news of today's historic step toward normalized relations between Israel and Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. The commitments made by the UAE and Bahrain to negotiation and diplomacy, as well as by Israel to halt its annexation efforts, lay a strong foundation for achieving regional stability, a longstanding bipartisan priority."

"As a Member of Congress, I am committed to effective diplomacy as we work toward a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians. I will monitor the agreements in a bipartisan manner to ensure Israel's survival as a secure Jewish and democratic state."

Congressman Horsford has supported legislation to strengthen relations and encourage cooperation with Israel. This includes cosponsoring and voting to pass House Resolution 246, which expressed opposition to the Global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement and other efforts targeting Israel.

Congressman Horsford also voted to pass House Resolution 326, which expressed the sense of the House of Representatives that any U.S. proposal to achieve a just, stable, and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict should expressly endorse a two-state solution.
