Congressman Steven Horsford Secures More Than $2.26 Million for Nevada Vaccine Education and Outreach Programs

May 5, 2021

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NEV. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford announced that Nevada will receive $2,261,337 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to assist with education efforts about the safety, efficacy, and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine.

"I'm proud to announce that Nevada will receive over $2 million from the CDC to raise public awareness about the enormous benefits of the COVID-19 vaccine," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "The COVID-19 vaccine is our best tool to help us recover and rebuild from this pandemic, and we need all Nevadans to understand that the vaccine is safe and effective. I thank the Biden-Harris administration for their continued partnership as Nevada works to crush this virus and reopen our economy."

This funding is part of nearly $250 million the CDC is distributing to state, territorial, and select large city governments to help with the next step of vaccine outreach efforts. The funding will support a number of resources, including:

  • A rapid Community Assessment Guide to identity and respond to vaccine education needs and develop targeted strategies for uptake in specific communities
  • Vaccine messages and toolkits to support vaccine education and outreach
  • Research on subpopulations
  • Visuals for TV, print, and digital advertisements
  • Survey data
