Washington, D.C. -- On Friday, June 26, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic, Judge Dolly Gee of the United States District Court of the Central District of California ordered Department of Homeland Security U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to release all children who have been detained for more than twenty days at Berks Family Residential Center in Berks County, Pennsylvania (Berks), Karnes Residential Center in Karnes City, Texas (Karnes) and South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley, Texas (Dilley) by July 17, 2020.

The Court ruled that the law requiring doctors who perform abortions have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals creates an undue burden and is unconstitutional based on legal precedent in the landmark Roe v. Wade decision of 1973.
