WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04), introduced legislation in response to the housing crisis affecting many major metropolitan areas, including Las Vegas. The Housing Oversight and Mitigating Exploitation (HOME) Act of 2022 addresses a trend that is creating artificial hikes in rents and property costs across the country, specifically in underserved communities, affecting Black and Latino families the most, and hurting single mothers trying to provide for their children.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Steven Horsford voted for bipartisan legislation that takes historic steps to combat gun violence and protect Nevada communities. The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act will help save lives by keeping weapons out of dangerous hands, strengthening mental health services and bolstering school safety. The first major gun violence prevention legislation passed by Congress in nearly three decades, this bill now heads to the President’s desk to be signed into law.
Democratic politicians in Nevada lamented the U.S. Supreme Court’s overturning of constitutional abortion protections as an attack on women’s rights, while Republicans declared it an end to “federal overreach.”
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steven Horsford today reacted to the decision of the United States Supreme Court to overturn a 50-year precedent that had guaranteed a woman’s right to decide to have an abortion. In their decision, the court overturned the rulings of Roe v. Wade in 1973 and Casey v. Planned Parenthood in 1992, which had prevented states from restricting access to abortion. In the state of Nevada, access to abortion remains legal.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) applauded the Senate introduction of an historic gun violence prevention package, crafted by a group of 20 bipartisan Senators. The agreement includes language from H.R. 4118, The Break the Cycle of Violence Act, introduced by Horsford last June. The community violence intervention programs from Horsford's legislation are slated to be funded at $250 million dollars, $2 billion dollars overall in anti-violence programs, and $11B in mental health investments through this new bipartisan agreement.
